Agenvia never asks for payment, OTPs, or bank details outside the app. We are not a government agency. Anyone contacting you on WhatsApp or Telegram claiming to be Agenvia is impersonating us.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026

1. Who we are

Agenvia (“we”, “us”, “the platform”) is the data controller for the personal data processed through our services. We are operated by Agenvia Services, a business name registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria (BN 9498946), with our principal place of business at 16 Kusa Street, Bariga, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. You can reach our Data Protection Officer at privacy@agenvia.io.

2. Data we collect

Account Data: Name, email address, phone number, and country of residence.

Verification Data (Agents): Government-issued ID, facial capture, proof of address, office photo, and — for Tier 2 — business registration (CAC) and TIN records.

Communication Data: We store message content and metadata for messages between users and agents, for safety and abuse prevention. Messages travel over encrypted connections, and message content and uploaded files are encrypted at rest on access-controlled systems. This is not end-to-end encryption — we hold the keys and are technically able to decrypt a conversation — but we do not read message content unless a participant flags it for review, and our automated moderation runs on adverts only, never on private messages.

Device Data: IP address, device type, operating system version, app version, and crash logs.

3. How we use your data

We use your information to create and secure your account, perform agent verification, prevent fraud and impersonation, provide customer support, and improve the platform. We also use data to comply with legal obligations, such as tax reporting for agent subscriptions and responding to lawful law enforcement requests.

4. Legal bases for processing

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, where it applies to you, the GDPR, we process data based on: (a) your consent, (b) the performance of our contract with you, (c) our legal obligations, and (d) our legitimate interests in maintaining a safe and secure platform.

5. Sharing your data

We never sell your personal data. We only share it with: (a) verification partners to confirm credentials, (b) Paystack, our payment processor, for agent subscriptions, (c) law enforcement when required by a valid legal request, (d) core infrastructure providers (hosting, analytics) who process data under our strict instructions, and (e) Tawk.to, the live-chat provider on this website, but only if you choose to start a chat — see section 9.

6. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own where our infrastructure providers operate. Where we transfer data from Nigeria or the EEA to other jurisdictions, we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place to protect your rights.

7. Data retention and account deletion

You can delete your account at any time, either in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account, or from the web at agenvia.io/delete-account — no app installation or sign-in required. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. We confirm the request with a 6-digit code sent by SMS to the phone number on the account.

When you delete your account: your phone number and email address are removed from our systems and released for re-registration, your password is destroyed, you are signed out on every device immediately, and your profile stops being visible to other users.

What we keep after deletion: a minimal, de-identified account record for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal and accounting obligations — it no longer contains your phone number, email, or password. Transaction and payment records are retained for 6 years, the period required by the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 and by FIRS tax rules — extended only where fraud is suspected, as those rules permit. Agent verification documents are retained for 5 years after the account closes, the period set by the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022. Messages you sent remain visible to the people you sent them to, shown without your personal details. Messaging metadata is typically retained for 12 months unless flagged for a trust and safety investigation.

While your account is active, we retain your account data for as long as it remains open. If you would rather pause your account than delete it, you can deactivate it in the app under Settings → Account; signing in again reactivates it.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also have the right to data portability, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing is as easy as giving it. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), the regulator established by the NDPA 2023, or with your local supervisory authority.

9. Cookies and tracking on this website

Essential storage. We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage for session security, to remember your light/dark theme choice, and to record your cookie decision itself. These are required for the site to work and do not need your consent.

No advertising or tracking cookies. We do not run advertising networks, behavioural tracking, or third-party analytics on this website. That is why you are not asked to dismiss a cookie banner on arrival — there is nothing non-essential loading in the background to consent to.

Live chat (only if you ask for it). Our live chat is provided by Tawk.to (operated by Tawk.to Inc.). It sets its own cookies, receives your IP address and pages viewed, and stores your chat transcript so we can reply. It is not loaded when you open the site. It loads only after you select “Chat with us” and then confirm — until you do, no request is ever made to Tawk.to and it receives nothing about you.

Changing your mind. Select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to withdraw your chat consent. Withdrawing is as straightforward as granting, and takes effect immediately.

10. Children’s privacy

Agenvia is not intended for use by persons under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with data, we will delete it immediately and close the associated account.

11. Data security

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest, and we implement strict access controls. In the event of a significant data breach, we are committed to notifying the relevant authorities and affected users as required by law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material updates will be notified via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect.

13. Contact

For any privacy-related questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@agenvia.io or at our physical address: 16 Kusa Street, Bariga, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria — Attn: Data Protection Officer.
